As an example, the production of sliding covers for precision grinding machines presents often some distortions after the bending operation. This distortion was traditionally corrected with manual hammering, but the use of a planishing hammer is easier, faster and presents better results.
“Meanwhile is the GL 2 daily in use and the quality of the components has improved. The surface remains visibly smoother than hand-hammering, because of the absence of marks previously left by the hammer. Distortions are removed in a 1/3 of time, by using the GL 2 . In addition to that, the productivity of the operator has been increased, due to less fatigue.” (Interview with Mr. Schären of the company K. Schären AG, Steffisburg/Switzerland)
